Melinda Torres, Board Chair
Melinda holds her MA in Public Health from East Strousdburg University. She has over 10 years experience working with at-risk and homeless youth. Melinda is skilled in grant writing, program planning, and public speaking.
Jackie White, Board Vice Chair
Jackie has served on the BCYC Board since 2015. Jackie has 20 years of experience in youth programs. She is an active volunteer in Bandon schools and a coach for various community sports programs. Jackie is skilled in woodworking, arts, fundraising, event planning and execution. She has 5 children in Bandon school district.
Kim Russell, Board Secretary/Interim Treasurer
Kim has 18 years’ experience with youth programs serving students of Bandon, Oregon, including six years as a Girl Scout Leader, 4 years as GS parent assistant, 1 year as a high school classroom assistant, and 4 years as a member of the working board of the Bandon Community Youth Center, joining in 2014. Kim is currently the Executive Assistant at the local hospital and also has 22 years’ experience in marketing, communications, and event planning in the tech industry. Kim’s husband of 27 years, Troy, has served on the Bandon School Board for 12 years.Kim and Troy have one daughter entering her junior year at BHS and another who completed 12 years in the Bandon School District, class of 2014, now a 2018 UO grad with BS in Human Physiology. The dropout rate in Bandon is unacceptable. Family engagement and academic support are essential for student success.
Isaac Taylor, Board Director
A graduate of Bandon High School and longtime resident of Bandon, Isaac has volunteered as a tutor at the Youth Center and now serves in an advisory role on the board. Professionally, Isaac is a certified driving instructor and teaches ODOT-approved driver education courses to students from Coos and Curry counties. In addition, Isaac has been involved in and held leadership positions in local organizations such as Boy Scout Troop 313, Bandon School District athletics, and Warm Current surf camp, among others. Isaac also attended Southern Oregon University and studied political science, environmental science and food politics. Over the years, Isaac has gained experience as a member of budget committees, steering committees and has worked on and led various campaigns on political issues. In his free time, Isaac likes to garden with his family and take his kids to the beach or city park.
Marcene Rebeck, Board Director
Marcene is a returning board member, rejoining BCYC board service in 2018 after a 4-year break. Marcene is a Montessori School teacher with her own school in Bandon for over 20 years. Marcene has held BCYC Board Officer positions in the past. She re-joined the board after seeing the increase in programs and services provided since organizational changes implemented in 2014.
