Math Mentors
Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-5:30pm Grades 5th-8th
BCYC is pleased to offer math mentors again, after a successful 2018 school year. This Harbor Lights After Hours program consists of one on one, group tutoring, homework help, additional resources for enrichment, encouragement, academically excelling BHS students as mentors, enriching math games to make learning fun. The Educational Coordinator will be communicating between parents, students and teachers to ensure that students receive the help they need to have a successful year!

Media & News Club
Mondays & Wednesdays 3:30pm-5:30pm Grades 6th-8th
The BCYC is hosting an after school program for Harbor Lights Middle School students to explore the ever changing world of media on many different platforms. This program will allow members to express their opinions, research and report campus and community news as well as document events in writing and in photography. Members will work with their peers to construct weekly campus blogs and design then publish newspapers with an issue print occurring each semester.

Cooking Club
Tuesdays 3:30pm-5:30pm
Club Fee $20 each semester Grades 6th-8th
The BCYC is hosting an after school program for Harbor Lights Middle School students to explore and share their cooking talents with their peers, parents and the community. This seven-week series will build confidence, skill and creativity in a student centric environment. Members will work together to plan dishes, budget for ingredients and time as well as practice and enhance their mathematical measuring skills while they show off their culinary skills.

Art Club
Thursdays 3:30pm-5:30pm
Club Fee $20 each semester Grades 6th-8th
The BCYC is hosting an after school program for Harbor Lights Middle School students to explore and share their artistic talents with their peers and the community. By offering members the opportunity to engage and create with a wide variety of mediums and methods, this seven-week series will build confidence, self-reflection and creativity in a student eccentric environment.

 

Policies
*Bandon Community Youth Center is a non-profit, community organization that promotes connections among students, parents, teachers and the community at large. Our goal is to strengthen opportunities and growth for all youth in the Bandon Community. Although activities take place at the HLMS campus, the activities are sponsored and run solely by the BCYC. Parents are always welcome to visit our meetings.
*Each member must FULLY complete the registration form to be able to participate in the program.
*Each member is expected to behave respectfully and in good faith. Chronic disruptions, absences, miss-use of materials and/or negatively interacting in the peer exercises will result in the student being asked to leave the club for the rest of the current session.
*Communication is key; Program Staff will update students and parents by email. Please CALL the Program Staff if a member is unable to make an upcoming meetings otherwise staff members will call the number on file to assure that parents are aware of the absence.
